Main roles:
Concept art, world building, art direction, 3d modelling, sculpting, rigging, animating, shaders and light.
Tools:
Blender, Substance painter & Unity (HDRP).

This is a four week project at The Royal Academy. The vision was to make a project from concepting to a finished 3D video rendered in real-time. The focus in this project was mainly to work with the feel and the atmosphere of the environment.

Lighting
I spend a lot of time working with the right atmosphere and the lighting, volumetric fog and post processing was essential in this matter.

Wind shader
The wind shader is a basic shader that makes the 2D leaf planes move in a slow wavy manner. The wind shader helps a lot to communicate that this is an outdoor scene.

Particle system
The particle system is made with Unitys particle system and is a simple sprite emitter. This gives a dreamy feeling of also breaks up the light from the sun and creates a suttle motion.

World design
The world is mainly made out of two simple shapes. Boxes/houses and trees.

Duplicating the trees and the houses and rotating them around a central pivot point quickly gave the impression of a some what coherent world.
Character design
The character is a simple low poly character. I also made some quick variations of the silhouette by stretching the character.

Art direction
This universe is an abstract representation of how feelings and interaction limitations we all experienced dureing the first corona lockdown. The goal was to create a video that made us reflect on how and why other people reacted the way they did. We all shared the experience of a disruption, but not everyone had the same foundation that some of us did.
Ideation & concept art
Below is both concept drawings and iterations of how the world should look, and the mechanic of how the characters got affected by beeing turned up side down.
